The Overmountain Men of Tennessee Valley

“Fire is the test of gold; adversity, of strong men.”
— Seneca

The Overmountain Men are the East Tennessee chapter of the Old Glory Club. The historical Overmountain men were rugged frontiersmen who lived “over” (west of) the Blue Ridge mountains in areas including modern-day East Tennessee. When British Major Ferguson threatened to invade their lands and “lay their country waste with fire and sword,” the Overmountain men formed an army and marched east. They delivered the British a resounding defeat at the battle of King's Mountain and killed Major Ferguson. Our members seek to build a brotherhood of men that's worthy of the Overmountain name.
